Face Mill Cycle | EDGECAM 2021
The new “Outside to In” strategy will promote more intelligent toolpaths as well as lessen cycle time. Formerly, when set to ether climb or conventional, the face mill cycle would increase its cycle time as it rapid traverses from left to right in readiness for the feed movement.
“Outside to In” strategy, removes that time burden by maintaining closer cutter contact whilst still complying with Climb or Conventional machining.

Finish Groove Cycle | EDGECAM 2021
Turning customers will now discover extra Lead In/Out controls. As groove features come in all shapes and sizes and are not always symmetrical, users requested extra control during the secondary movement of the toolpath. EDGECAM 2021 answers this high frequency request by enhancing the cycle with a ‘Secondary Lead Move’ dialog. As the cycle now completes the opposite side of a groove feature, the user can deploy unique Lead In and Lead Out movements.

Profiling Cycle - Dovetail Tool Support | EDGECAM 2021
Introduced at version 2020, Dovetail tool cutters can now be used with a Profiling cycle and will benefit both Milling and Turning customers. Solid Features and Faces can be selected in conjunction with the ‘Undercut’ command, thus allowing for ‘back-facing’ and other such type, collision free, toolpaths.

Machine Simulator Performance | EDGECAM 2021
Regardless of licence or manufacturing environment, all EDGECAM users will use ‘Machine Simulator’ to check their toolpaths. Users will be pleased to learn that due to improvements in software architecture EDGECAM 2021 offers an average time saving of 70% when the software is initially launched.
This is due to the part file now storing the background data rather than the data being recreated each and every time the Simulator is launched.

Machine Tool Configuration | EDGECAM 2021
Responding to not only a large amount of customer enhancement requests but also keeping in-line with its machine tool partners, EDGECAM 2021.0 delivers two important new features which allows customers to harness best practice
Linear Turret Lathes kinematics have been expanded with the introduction of variable pitch and multiple axis support. Through a simple switch within the ‘Code Wizard’ users can now, not only stipulate the exact position of numerous tool stations on a turret but also clearly simulate this in the Machine Simulator.
Multi-Task Machine Tools (MTM) can now support tools mounted inside Angle Head attachments. This type of tool configuration has been supported in EDGECAM’s mill environment for may versions, thus MTM users will be benefiting from a mature feature that has been thoroughly tried and tested.

Inspection & Probing Enhancements | EDGECAM 2021
New probing functionally delivers eight new cycles supporting m&h ,Renishaw ,Heidenhain and Siemens controllers.
The foundation for this functionality has been built on EDGECAM’s ground-breaking Inspection software.
Six new or updated Inspection commands including the ability to globally edit existing inspection features and, to specifically control the layout of both the ‘Linear’ and ‘Rectangular Array’ features.
